1. WHY SHOULD I JOIN BETA ALPHA PSI?
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) provides numerous opportunities to create well-rounded members. This is accomplished through informing members about their financial information careers and having them participate in professional and service events. BAP also fosters a sense of professional brotherhood that is not found in other organizations. This allows members to connect with not only local members of BAP, but alumni and members from professional organizations around the world. B
Beta Alpha Psi is unique from other organizations in its international scope. With over 300 chapters at universities around the world, and almost 350,000 alumni members, BAP provides a strong network that will help its members succeed in their professional careers. Regional and national meetings in the United States allow hundreds of members to meet and learn from each other every year. Because of its size and strong professionalism, companies and recruiters have gotten to know Beta Alpha Psi as an organization that is home to outstanding individuals who stand above their peers in academic, professional, and community service achievement.
2. WHAT ARE THE DUES AND WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM?
Membership in Beta Alpha Psi requires a one-time payment of initiation (national) dues. These dues are collected by your chapter when you join and are immediately paid to the national office. In addition, the Zeta Alpha chapter at Purdue collects chapter dues each semester. Dues depend on your membership status (outlined below). These funds are used to pay for your candidate gifts and many functions throughout the semester, including weekly professional events, the Annual Fall Banquet, BAP socials, BAP Regionals, and various other professional meetings.
Candidates: $75 One-Time Payment
Active Members/Associates: $15 Per Semester
3. WHY DOES BETA ALPHA PSI HAVE STRICT GPA REQUIREMENTS?
Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization. By maintaining strict GPA requirements, Beta Alpha Psi has been able to cultivate an excellent reputation among accounting professionals. This reputation will reflect on you in your interviews with these professionals, increasing the likelihood that you will secure a position with their firm.

4. WHY ARE THERE ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP?
Each of the chapters of Beta Alpha Psi are required to meet activity requirements. Our chapter strives to meet the requirements of “Superior Chapter” every year which includes turning in our beginning and end of year report, initiating members every semester, and completing a specified level of reaching out, professional, and service activities. In order to meet these requirements we need the help of our members. With the members' help, we can make our events and chapter a success!
5. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE A “SUPERIOR CHAPTER?”
Each chapter that meets the requirements for “Superior Chapter” is recognized in the National Annual Report and at the National Convention. In addition, the chapter also receives a recognition plaque and a financial award contributed by KPMG and the KPMG Foundation.
6. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ASSOCIATE AND A MEMBER?
An associate is a person who has successfully completed the candidacy process, but does not yet meet the requirements for full mebership. This most commonly refers to freshmen. Beta Alpha Psi requires its members to have 1.5 years of collegiate-level schooling completed, which means you can only become a full member after your first semester of sophomore year. This does not mean that freshmen cannot join! Freshmen who complete the candidacy process will remain as associates until they complete enough semesters to become full members. The difference is a formality; associates and members have all the same privileges and requirements.
